This was the very first clipper I owned. I picked it mostly because my grooming instructor suggested it.
It is very quiet which is important when dealing with puppies or nervous dogs. It weighs just over a pound. It's powerful enough to get through any coat. This is a good choice for an inexpensive clipper. It works for professional use but is cheap enough to be used for people who are just interested in grooming their family pets. You do have to maintenance it but really its only a matter of changing out the blade drive assembly. This is very simple to do. If you don't feel comfortable doing it your self most blade sharpeners can do it for you or you could send it in to one of the many Andis authorized service stations around the country. I am lucky enough to live in the same state that the company is located in so I send mine straight to them. They get sent in every year to get worked on. This is not because they break every year I just like to give them a tune up and keep them in great shape. I also want to prevent them from breaking during a busy grooming day. As far as the Andis company goes I have nothing but good things to say about them. I have never had to pay more then twenty dollars when I have sent in my clippers(that is with shipping). When they come back they are like a whole new clipper they replace any parts that need it (my case usually is cracked from dropping them).
